What's up...

Nothing much is going on these days... well at least not in my life. It is holy week so there are tons of tourists from around Brazil in Salvador. They are celebrating their holiday by generally causing mayhem... appears to me that there is nothing really holy about this week for most.

I still have yet to see Slumdog Millionaire. I went to Salvador Shopping on Wed (the day that going to the movies is cheapest, for some reason) and they had canceled the showing that I had planned on seeing. This resulted on me buying a ticket to Gran Torino-- I was so upset. I thought that the movie was going to be some lame thing about race car driving. Needless to say I was pleasantly surprised. I cried when Clint left his doggy Daisy. There is just something about that human-doggie connection that I can't shake. It is so profound.

While at Salvador Shopping I decided to pick up a book. The only book I have left is a biology one about stress' effect on the human body. It can be turgid at times (but still entertaining becuase the author is great!). I read it slowly because I want to be able to remember all the stuff about how the body works. Anyhow, I decided that I needed something a little more mindless to read during my down time and I picked up Twilight! I am pleased with my choice. Although this first book seems to be written a little oddly-- I'm not in love with her style and I think she takes a LONG time to say what she wants to say-- it is exactly what I needed-- easy reading. I'm kind of afraid that it won't last long though-- it's only Friday and I have already read 100 pgs. Damn my fast reading skills!

I can't believe that in one month I will be in Boston... it's insane. I have been here for so long now that I have kind of resigned myself to living in Brazil. I have forgotten what it feels like to be in Boston-- what the snow feels like-- what the streets smell like. I think going back after 9 months away will be spectacular-- I have enough distance to re-appreciate my little city all over again. :)

Ok, that's all for now. oh! Yesterday was Diego's 3rd birthday-- happy birthday, dieguini!!!
